A.M.I. 6-12 Certificate Course, July 7th - 10th & 13th - 18th 2020 (10 days)

Who is the Course for?

This course is intended to help interested adults become informed, capable and supportive Assistants to a trained Montessori Primary Teacher (6-12).

Further, the programme may serve as an information course for Primary Trust members and parents.

The course presents an examination of the development of the child in accordance with Dr Montessori Montessori's principles and philosophy. Particular emphasis is given to children aged six to twelve years. The course supports the following objectives:

  • To learn the Montessori philosophy with regard to child development
  • To observe the Primary child (during the second plane of development) 
  • To learn how to interact with the Montessori trained teacher
  • To learn how to interact with the Primary child

Duration of the Course

Sixty hours (60) of instruction and nine hours (9) of observation.  Three (3) of these will occur during the course. The remaining 6 6) hours of observation in a Primary class, after the course, will be required.  Daily hours of the course - 9.00a.m. - 4.00p.m.

 

AMI 6-12 Trainer Rebecca Dallam

Rebecca Dallam is the Director of Elementary training at the Sydney Montessori Training Centre. She holds the AMI 3-6 (1987) and 6-12 (1996) diplomas, a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from Temple University and a Master’s degree in education from Loyola University.

Rebecca worked in public Montessori education in the U.S. before moving to Australia in 1998. Since then she has worked to bring AMI 6 - 12 training to Australia so that more children can benefit from the Montessori approach to human development. Rebecca has taught at both the 6-9 and 9-12 levels in the US and Australia.

As a trainer, Rebecca has worked with parents and teachers in Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, India, Russia and Thailand.

A.M.I. 3-6 Certificate Course, March 23rd - April 3rd 2020 (10 days)

 

AMI 3-6 Trainer - Carol Potts 

 

Yarnton House, 14 Erson Avenue, Royal Oak, Auckland 

 

This 10-day course offers an overview of the Montessori approach to child development. It comprises of 60 hours of face to face study, followed by 9 hours of observation to be completed within 2 weeks of the course completion.

  • ECE qualified kaiako working in a Montessori environment
  • Kaiako in a supporting role in a Montessori environment
  • School owners, administrators, parents and ECE professionals seeking an understanding of the Montessori approach to child development

AMI 3-6 Trainer - Carol Potts

Carol Potts is the Director of Training at the Maria Montessori Education Foundation, New Zealand.  

Carol has worked in 3-6 environments for both not-for-profit and privately owned Montessori centres from 1995 to the current day. She is one of the Management Team and Advisory Committee of the Maria Montessori Education Foundation. 

In 2007 she was instrumental in bringing AMI Training to Aotearoa, New Zealand. 

Carol has worked as a trainer and AMI examiner in New Zealand, Australia, China and Thailand.
