A Taste of Montessori – Language & Literacy – Wednesday 15th May 7.00p.m. – 8.15p.m.

‘Structured literacy’ is the common buzz phrase in regards to writing and reading currently and why tamariki are not faring well in these areas. Join us as we explore some of the fundamental ‘keys’ leading to writing and reading in the early years. Is this ‘structured literacy’? Indeed it is!

A Taste of Montessori – Mathematics & Culture – Wednesday 3rd July 7.00p.m. – 8.15p.m.

Mathematics is all around us if we define Maths. as the ability to see patterns, sequence and connections in our environment.

Culture – Montessori urged us ‘to give the world to the child’ – how do we do this in a Montessori context as a foundation to peace?

These informal evenings are open to all with an interest in the immense potential of young tamariki aged 3 to 6 years. We’ll explore why these Montessori materials and experiences spark curiosity and serve as fundamental ‘aids to development’. Plus, there’ll always be time for tea and questions.

Onsite venue: Tūi, Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre, 14 Mills Lane, Albany, Auckland.

If joining us onsite, please park in the council car park. Walk over the bridge and follow the footpath to the right – look out for the Maria Montessori Education Foundation sign.

Online: Zoom details will be sent following payment, on the Monday before the event. Timing will differ for onsite attendees - online 7.15 - 8.15p.m.

Cost: $20 per session. Payment via internet banking. Register online here.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Calling all AMI 3-6 & 6-12 Alumni
'Leading to Melodies & Compositions ~
Reading & Writing with the Bells' Workshops, 2024
"Because no one language is rich enough to give expression to the gushing life within...he speaks, he writes, he draws, he sings like a nightingale in the springtime."                                        ~ Montessori, Advanced Montessori Method Vol 11, pg. 295
Pairing, grading, and introducing the language of the bells are wonderful experiences in the 3-6 environment wouldn't you agree? Did you know there is much more we can introduce sensorially with this exquisite material, like the staff boards, the note names, and the placement of notes gradually leading our musically inclined tamariki to compose their own melodies and read simple musical compositions?
MMEF is thrilled that AMI 3-6 Trainer, Carol Potts will be offering 'Leading to Melodies & Compositions - Reading and Writing with the Bells', in two locations this year.
This further exploration of introducing Writing & Reading with the Bells topic is frequently requested by AMI Alumni, not always included in the 3-6 Diploma but offered after graduating. Note - AMI 6-12 Alumni, this could also be a wee refresher for you.
